Dealing with cancer is hard no matter what.
By spending time together as a family making memories and being around other families who understand what you’re going through, it makes that journey a little bit easier. Family activities and programs provide an opportunity for families to spend time with one another in a supportive community full of love and understanding.
Candlelighters programs are open to all families throughout Oregon & SW Washington who have a child or teen from age 0-21 who has been diagnosed with cancer. It is our mission to support & serve each family member—not just the child with the disease. Additionally, we continue to offer services to families when the child is no longer in treatment or when the child is bereaved, as we know that the journey continues when the treatment or chemotherapy ends. All at no cost to the families.

“Picnic in the Park” in the springtime and “A Time of Remembrance” during the Holiday season. Meeting other families experiencing grief and bereavement offers strength and courage to deal with their life without their loved one. As with all Candlelighters activities, they are at no cost to those who attend.
We also understand that when a child passes away the focus should be on the family and not the bills associated with it. Candlelighters offers Emergency Funeral Financial Assistance to help ease the burden of a loss.
