Join us for an educational no-cost breakfast and learn how Candlelighters programs, like Family Camp, serve the WHOLE family when a child is diagnosed with cancer. For 17 years, Candlelighters Family Camp has gathered families together for three days of connection at various stages in their journey with childhood cancer. It is a camp of friendship, healing, calmed fears, mutual understanding, cherished memories and valuable insights into life with childhood cancer.

This year's breakfast will give you a glimpse of Family Camp through the eyes of 4,000 family members who have experienced it. Find out how three days of community building through shared stories, bonfires, pool time, arts and crafts or just relaxing changes the lives of WHOLE families...dads, moms, sisters, brothers, and children impacted by childhood cancer - without a financial cost to the families.

Kabour image.jpgDr. Marianne Kabour Ph.D, licensed clinical psychologist at Randall  Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel, will share the benefits of a Family Camp environment in reducing post-traumatic stress and increasing self-confidence, leading to improved quality of life for every member of the family.

Wheatley Family.jpgThomas Wheatley and Kalpana Krishnamurthy will share their experience of raising a child affected by cancer along with a healthy sibling and how Candlelighters Family Camp empowered them to be strong advocates for the WHOLE family.

Sally & Holly.jpgSally Showman, Heartprint Productions will emcee the event.

2017 Recap

Congratulations to all of you for making our first annual Cancer Warrior Breakfast a HUGE success!

Thanks to you we surpassed our goal and raised more than $50,000 for Candlelighters For Children With Cancer's life-changing programs and services!  Our goal was to educate the community about our programs and services and explain why and how our supportive care model works.  Candlelighters supports the WHOLE family when a child is diagnosed and treated for cancer and has helped 80,000 family members in Oregon and SW Washington since 1977.

We thank our wonderful long-time volunteers who trail blazed and maintained this organization.  Because of their passion, Candlelighters has continued to serve this community for 40 years!  It's thanks to all of them that we can continue to build and strengthen our community of healing for more than 2,000 family members annually.

Thank you to Sally Showman for being our emcee for the Cancer Warrior Breakfast!  We are thankful and moved by her gift of time and talent.  A special thank you to our speakers, Dr. Faith Galderisi and Brian Maher.  Dr. Galderisi, a pediatric oncologist from Randall Children's Hospital, shared information and clinical studies on why Candlelighters programs and services are impactful for families and so necessary for the WHOLE family when a child is diagnosed with cancer.  Brain Maher, Candlelighters Board Member and a Candlelighters Family Member, shared his moving story about his daughter Tilly's diagnosis and how every member of his family came to lean on Candlelighters For Children With Cancer.
